- Match 12 in ISL
between FC GOA vs NORTHEAST UNITED FC ended up as a 1-1 stalemate.
- FC GOA coach
Juan Ferrando and opposing coach Gerard Nus got into heated action-reactions
more than once.
- In the last
quarter of the game, FC GOA mid-fielder Albarto Noguera pushed Nus to the
ground, leading to a disrespectful amusement reaction from GOA coach.
Here in the match on Monday, FC GOA failed to end their winless run
in 2020-’21 season, while thought to be underdog team NORTHEAST UNITED FC continued their unbeaten run to keep hold to their
2nd position in the
league table, after the match ended 1-1. Idiassa
Sylla gave Northeast lead from spot kick while Goa equalized through a Igor
Angulo goal from a fine assist by Brendon Fernandez. Though what caught
everyone’s attention is a unsporting spat during the match.
The
stage was set when Nus was trying to complete the substitution of Appiah and lost his calm as Goa coach
was arguing with the fourth official and afterwards he had a go towards his
opponent coach. Staffs from both corners were needed to get involved to
separate them. Referee took both their name to booking.
Well,
few minutes later, the incident took a really unexpected turn when Goa mid-fielder Alberto Noguera pushed
Northeast United coach to ground while receiving the ball from the ball boy before
taking a throw in. this is when Ferrando took everyone by surprise as he
cheered and applauded the gesture from his team’s player.
QUICK FACTS:
·
NORTHEAST UNITED
FC coach Gerard Nus is the youngest coach in ISL, being only 35 years old.
· Both of the coaches
are from Spanish origin, Ferrando also being very young, 39 years of age.
· Gerard Nus has a great coaching history: Managed
LIVERPOOL F.C. Youth team for 3 years, was Conditioning Coach for
LIVERPOOL F.C. in those same years (2007-2010). Also serving for teams like
Ghana National Team, Rayo Valecano, Elche before making
his way to ISL.
In
interview, though, Ferrando refused to talk about the incident. “I prefer to not talk about it and talk
about it face to face.” he said. Just a moment, Nus has something to say
about it, “Basically, he was interested
in joining NEUFC. He was at our bench. Ask him.” he pointed out that it was
Ferrando who went on to their technical area.
All
the commentators were taken aback by the incident, as they kept on criticizing
for quite some times. Numerous posts also started to pop us on social media against
the incident.
Well, FC Goa, currently placed at 7th
position in 11 team tournament, that even playing more matches than some
teams placed further bottom, has many more things to think about except this
unwanted and unexpected chaos.
