INDIAN BATTING COLLAPSED AGAINST AUSSIE PACE TRIO

IND vs AUS, 1ST TEST- 3RD DAY, ADELAIDE OVAL 

India started the third day with an advantage. Night-watchman Bumrah went back to the dressing room by a dolly taken by Cummins. It was the high time when Indian batsmen could score a fighting total taking the advantage of 62 runs lead, but Indian batsmen fall short of their technique and paved the way for a shameful 2nd innings total.

The Australian pace trio destroyed the Indian batting line-up. None of the Indian batsmen could reach a second digit score. Pujara (0) was caught behind in a Cummins’s delivery. Kohli (4) tried to fight back but caught by Cameron Green at gully while playing a cover drive. All the other batsmen followed him and India was at 19-6 within 30 minutes of the beginning of the third day. Wriddhiman Saha (4) and Hanuma Vihari (8) tried a little but after drinks Hazlewood dismissed them. Josh Hazlewood created a hattrick chance but could not get it though. Mohammad Shami (1) was retired hurt and Indian innings came to an end at 36, the lowest total scored by an Indian team.

The Aussie pacers Josh Hazlewood, Mitchel Starc and Pat Cummins had done all the job for their team. Hazlewood took five wickets and grab the ball of the 2nd innings. Aussies had to chase only 90 runs to take a lead of 1-0 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and they took 21 overs in exchange of 2wickets. Baggy Green skipper Tim Paine was awarded as the ‘Player of the match’.

The Adelaide pitch became bouncier and friendly for the pacers at the third day of the test, though it was the Australian pacers who took advantage of this. Surely, it was a tough day for the Indian cricket. Captain Kohli will not be available in the rest of the series and team India will definitely come back in the next match.
