The Indian tennis team will play their first world group playoffs qualifiers of the Bille Jean king cup again Latvia. The tie will be played on April 16 and 17 at the indoor hard carts of the National Tennis Center lielupe in Jurmala , Latvia .
The Indian team will be led by Sania Mirza and Ankita Raina India’s No.1 singles and Doubles player Ankita Raina made her long-awaited Grand Slam debut at the Australian Open in the Women’s Doubles event this year, and also won her first WTA title in doubles. Former World No.1 Doubles player Sania Mirza also returned to the cart in march at the Qatar Open and Dubai Tennis Championship after recovering from Covid-19.
Ratuja Bhosale, Zeel Desai, Karman Kaur Thandi, from the rest of the Indian squad with Riya Bhatia to travel as the reserve player.

Former Indian tennis player Vishal Uppal is the captain of the team.
Last year, the Indian tennis team finishes second behind china in the Asia/Oceania Group I to qualify for the world group play-offs first time. They lost the first tie against China but won four consecutive ties after that – against Uzbekistan , South Korea, Chinese-Taipei and Indonesia –with Sania Mirza going unbeaten through the campaign.
The Latvian tennis team is led by former Roland-Garros champion Jelena Ostabenko and former US-open semifinalist Anastasia Sevastova , Diana Marcinkevica, Daniela Vismane, Patricija Spaka are the other players on the squad. The team is captained by Adrians Zguns.

Through Latvia is favourite to win the tie but the Indian tennis squad will be high on confidence.
