After winning the 2019 WTA Doubles team of the year, Kristina Mladenovic and Timea Babos successfully defend their
crown and takes the WTA Doubles team of the year 2020 for the second straight
year. They captured 2 titles of the season and both at the Grand Slam level –
at the Australian Open and the Roland Garros for the second time in a row (they
are the winner of 2019 Roland Garros). At Melbourne, the no.2 doubles team
defeated top seeds and no.1 doubles team Hsieh/Strycova in the championship
match , and at the Roland Garros they defeated the American –Chile pair
Krawietz/Guarachi and captured their 2nd straight Roland Garros
title. The French-Hungarian pair also reached the semi-finals at the Qatar Open
WTA premier-5 tournament Mladenovic spent 1 week as the No.1 doubles player in
the world in this year (February 24, 2020 first achieved June 10, 2019) and
former World No.1 Babos reached as high as no.2 in this season.
