Kenin takes 2020 WTA Player of the Year

Sofia Kenin’s incredible season helps her to earn the 2020 WTA player of the year. The 2019 WTA Most Improved Player captured her to earn 2020 WTA most improved player of the year. The 2020 Most Improved Player of the year captured her maiden Grand Slam title in January at the Australian Open , where she defeated WTA world No.1 , the homefavourite , Australian Ashleigh Barty in the semi finals and the former world no.1 , 2 time Grand Slam champion Garbine Muguruza in the final in 3 sets(6-2,4-6,6-4). She also reached her second career Grand Slam final at the “Roland Garros” , finished 2nd to Polish teenager and fellow nominee “Iga Swaitek” , she the 4th round at the US Open , becoming one of two players to reach the 2nd week at all , 3 grand slams in 2020 (other player is Petra  Kvitova). The 22 years old American finishes her incredible season as a career high WTA World No .4 (first achieved this ranking on March 9, 2020)
