Indian women’s tennis player Ankita Raina wins ITF $100k Dubai Doubles Title with her Georgian

Juvan of Slovenia and Aliona Bolsova of Spain in a (6-4, 3-6,
10-6) score line. A close match that lasted 1 hour and 19 minutes. After
winning the hard fought first set, the Indian –Georgian players are completely
outplayed in the second and trailing 0.5. Then, they fighting a little bit to
close the gap, but still lose the second 3-6 . Then, it was a solid comeback
from the India-Georgian pair to clinch the final in the match tie –break
(10-6).
They had earlier beaten Heather
Watson and Anna Blinkova of
Great Britain and Russia 6-7 (1) , 6-3,[10-2] in another three set battle in
the semi-finals and the no.2 seeds Andreia
Klepac – Kristen Flipkens in the quarter- finals[7-6(3),6-1].
Raina, the 27 years old Indian from Ahmadabad, Gujarat takes her second
massive doubles title after winning once before in Taipei 2018 WTA125k, with fellow country woman ‘Karman Kaur Thandi’. The current India’s No.1 in both singles and
doubles in women’s tennis, will reach a career high doubles ranking of 117 with
this win .She is also playing the singles competition in the tournament, where
she lost to no.5th seed and world no.64 Katerina Sinkova in a 6-1, 2-6, 2-6 score line . Raina is currently
No.180 in singles.
