A new controversy has arisen over the India v Australia series in Sydney. It has been alleged that racist remarks aimed at Mohammed Siraj and Jaspreet Bumrah floated from the gallery of Sydney Stadium. Not only on the fourth day but also on the third and second day this incident was happened. Indian cricket board BCCI has lodged a detailed complaint in ICC. The ICC said that they would take the incident seriously.

The racist remarks of the Australian supporters started from the second day of the Sydney Test. But still on the fourth day there was no change in the situation. On the fourth day, the racist attack took its final shape. Mohammad Siraj was standing at the boundary line of Sydney Cricket Ground. At that time he was called as a 'brown dog'.

On Saturday, a group of Aussie supporters made racist remarks targeting Jaspreet Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj. Rahane and Ashwin talked about this for a long time after the third day of test with umpires Paul Rifle and Paul Wilson. Siraj and Bumrah then spoke to officials in charge of security in Sydney. But after that night the situation is the same again. On Sunday morning, racist remarks flew from the audience again towards Siraj. Earlier, Siraj had said that viewers had been making indecent remarks at him since the second day of the Sydney Test. That trend continued till the fourth day of the Test.

During fielding in the fine leg, a group of spectators repeatedly made racist remarks aimed at Siraj. At the end of the 86th over on Sunday, Siraj and captain Rahane went to the field umpire and complained that racist remarks was flying towards him from the spectator seat. After that the game is stopped for ten minutes. Officers in charge of security identified the six spectators and drove them out of the stadium. The ICC is started investigating on this racist remarks. Cricket Australia has also been sharply criticized in this regard.

All the sounds of the Sydney spectators could be heard very clearly, as there were only 10,000 spectators in the field. According to sources, the Indian team management may submit an audio clip to the ICC based on Bumra-Siraj's allegations. As the matter is now under the full supervision of the ICC, it has been reported that if the Bumra-Siraj allegations are substantiated, the spectators may be barred from entering the next match and the next Test.

The incident is reminiscent of the infamous 'Monkeygate' controversy of 13 years ago in 2008 which also happened in this Sydney Ground. Which is still known as the black chapter in the minds of cricket fans. That time racist remarks occurred on Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh against Aussie all-rounder Andrew Symonds. Symonds was ruled out for three matches after the allegations were substantiated. However, after the appeal, Symonds was fined by reducing the deportation.
